My motivation for my art is not just to please myself, but to capture the attention of the public. No matter where someone looks in today’s world there is art containing messages being thrown at you; whether it be an ad on the side of your Facebook page or a sign on the side of the highway trying to get to you to stop at an attraction; a message is told. I intend for my work to tell a message, the world will understand.

Bold and straight to the point, is the best way to describe my work. Once I know the message I want people to see, ideas on how to express it start flowing. My sketch book and pencil become the tools I need to lay out all the concepts in my mind. I do not even think of touching a computer until I sketch a piece of art that pleases me, while telling my targeted audience the message. When done with my sketch book, it’s time to apply my creativity to the computer; my favorite tool. The computer has been my favorite tool, since I was young and I got my first computer with the old Paint software on Windows. That software helped me explore the world of color; leading me to discover my favorite color was blue. Blue is a color that is relaxing, yet expresses communication; so I tend to throw this color in most of my pieces. Alongside with the color blue, block, solid fonts are used a lot to keep that bold look in my work.

After I capture my vision on a computer, I always show my parents my work for critique. My father has talent and skills in the graphic design field, so I call him my “Graphic Eye”, where my mother is my “Public Eye”; they help me improve my graphic art, and ways to convey my message stronger. As soon as the changes are made, I reach my favorite part of the creative process; the end. To me there is no greater feeling as a graphic artist, then to put my completed work out to the public and people understanding the art, that I put so much work into.
