Since the concrete playground days with the kids playing house, I was always given the role of the mom. I was always told that I was caring, loving and trustworthy and always found myself adopting my younger peers. May of 2012 my son made that title real; he is also the reason I decided to make my passion my career. This plays an important role in my work and how I handle design. Each piece no matter big or small, commission or not has a life to me. But like a mother I do wonder and worried about the life of my work after me. I create each piece with the hope that it lives longer than me and strong enough to withstand years alone.

I would describe my design style as simple. I love simplicity and everything it has to offer to the world. There is an innocence about it that is so powerful. My son has granted me the eyes to see the world in black and white and I found that solving communication problems have been easier ever since. I am a designer but more importantly I am a communicator. Designers help create a language specifically for the consumer.

My fascination for simplicity is also represented in my illustrative works, which have a tendency to be found in my designs often. I find that my daily digestion of cartoons may be the greatest cause of this. Cartoons are made up of very simple forms, and I create my work in the same building block format.

My lust for illustration also makes me begin a project with pencil and paper. Before i start any work, even if it’s a rough sketch in the corner of my notes i always start on paper. Starting on paper is a very satisfying experience. You can flush out all of your ideas at any time or place and the more you do it the faster it is to come up with a strong concept. Also sketching opens up endless possibilities with an assignment.
