I’ve always been a passionate person. I am someone who wears my feelings on my sleeve and puts everything I have into what is important to me. Some people keep journals or write books, but I turn to art. I take the feelings and creativity in that moment and produce a snap shot so that others can experience what I have. Photographs create a portal to previous times and keep records of the little minute details that can be easily missed.

My photographs capture the beauty of God’s creation and everything that inhabits it. The colors in every sunrise and sunset or the glassy shimmer on the bay at mid day are things that I want people to remember. I strive to give the viewer an aesthetically pleasing experience where they can partake in a moment of awe. Nature is a sanctuary that cannot compare to any other man made church or cathedral. The scenery around us has an unexplainable presence that leaves the viewer baffled and at peace.

It takes patience and knowledge of the subject to capture the scene in a way that fully displays the feeling of grandeur that the moment truly contains. When photographing a scene I take in all of my surroundings and then focus on a certain feeling that I want to portray. Color and composition mold my vision and determine when I hold down the shutter and where I focus my lens. Anyone can take a picture of waves crashing on the shore, but in order to capture that particular moment of awe the artist has to find the right angles at the right time. In order to find the right time and position to hit the shutter, you have to feel like you are one with the place you are in, like you belong there, knowing how the tides move.

This is when these landscapes become more than just beautiful scenes; they have now become planned portrayals of a natural sanctuary that needs to be recognized and respected. The difference between a picture and a photograph is the creativity, vision and technique behind it. I believe this is what makes my images different. I spend time in and respect the nature I photograph. The smell of the sea and the warm breeze coming off the bay both play a role in my art just as much as the view itself. I feel photography is a way of life and this is the life I choose to live. I see the world as a series of images and I will capture them all. I do not want the viewer to mimic my passion for these beautiful scenes but instead I want to cause them to reflect on their own.
