The idea of being able to connect with something on a more physical level is where I derive my inspiration when creating a new work of art. I’m specifically inspired by the physicalconnection and movement experienced when snowboarding down the side of a mountain, swimming with the current in the ocean, or cruising down the street on my skateboard. My process when creating a new piece is that I have begun to incorporate the idea of movement that gives the representation of a visual kinetic flow. The sensation of movement I try to portray in my paintings, illustrations and drawings creates a visual vibrancy and a sense of constant flow with something that could have been previously experienced through the idea of kinetic connection between one point and another. Taking what I enjoy personally and finding the means to incorporate the same physical sensation into art is the creative connection that people may gain after doing something out of their own comfort zone. I take the same characteristics and push them in the direction not only with my fine art work but with graphic design work as well. The physical connection experienced through skateboarding or snowboarding truly broadens my perception and gives me a better understanding of my fascination of movement that benefits the social connection with people that is needed within the design world. A connection a graphic designer should have with a future client in order to understand their vision that you as a designer will be creating. After developing this new style of work I feel it has truly strengthened my graphic design aspect because I explore different possibilities and solutions rather than settle with one or two ideas. For me, exploringart is like exploring the streets of the concrete jungle.
