B.F.A. Graphic Design
Creativity is one thing that I have found constant in my life. It has been my way to create a story and express emotion. This creative gene has inspired me to pursue a career in art and design. My love of art has continued to grow and develop in me, and has grown to become my passion. I always knew I wanted to work in the art and design industry because it always felt like the best fit for me. As a creative individual art has been the best outlet for me to express my creativity. Understanding the meaning behind why designs are created, and how they engage with the viewer has always been fascinating to me. This ambition has pushed me as a designer and inspired me to grow in my passion for design.
Design is interesting to me because of the way in which you can communicate outside of words. My design allows me to connect with the viewer through thoughts and interactions. Whether I am designing, illustrating, creating a identity, or working on a website; my goal is to engage the viewer with my work. I often find myself staring at packaging, surfing Pinterest, or analyzing advertisements and websites to find the best way that they connected with their audience, and I want my viewers to be engaged in the same way. My designs are based off of this connection between the product or service I am designing for, and the most effective way that I can relate my work to the end consumer. My style is very clean and simple allowing the product or content to shine. I am a content first designer so I try to avoid any unnecessary flair.
I incorporate my personal style into everything I do. Adding personality allows me to include a small piece of myself into each project I create. I enjoy keeping up to date with the current design trends in the industry. Currently my fields of interest are branding, web design/user experience, and print design. All of these areas directly communicate a message to an audience. I enjoy being able to work with a client to best communicate their message to the intended audience in a visual way. With the growth of technology we have also seen a change in the need for designing new user friendly platforms on every level. From web to mobile to print, I enjoy designing platforms that help the client connect in an engaging way with the consumer.
